The Cursa El Corte Inglés Race: 25 years bringing together solidarity and sport
1986 was the first year the Cursa El Corte Inglés offered its exceptional capacity for spreading information to particularly relevant organizations or civic events . Sport Aid - Todo el mundo corre por África (1986), Fundación de Ayuda Contra la Drogadicción - Engánchate a la Vida (1990), Intermón (1991), Manos Unidas (1994), FASE, Fundación Anti-Sida España (1995), Creu Roja (1996), Fundació Privada d'Investigació Cardiovascular (1997), Fundació Internacional Josep Carreras (1998), Unicef - Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (1999), Metges Sense Fronteres (2000), Banc d'Ulls per a tractaments de la ceguesa (2001), Fundació Esclerosi Múltiple (2002) Fundación Vicente Ferrer (2005) , Manos Unidas (2006), El Casal dels Infants del Raval (2007), again the Creu Roja (2008), Fundació Catalana Síndrome de Down (2009) and FERO - Fundación de Investigación Oncológica (2010) are the nongovernmental organizations that have had a leading role in the event in previous years.
The adherence of the Cursa El Corte Inglés to the Olympic and Special Olympics Games in 1992, and to events such as the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Guardia Urbana police force (1993), the 10th World Police and Fire Games (2003) or the Universal Forum of Cultures (2004), are also four good examples of the link between the race and the city that welcomes it. In 2011 the race will reinforce its distinct solidarity promoting a massive and voluntary collection of food and spread the word about the excellent work of the Banc dels Aliments.
